More Jesus, Less Church

WOODSTOCK — A unique congregation is looking for a new home.

God’s Rolling Thunder Independent Christian Church is now meeting in a bar in Woodstock, but would like a new place for the congregation of about 60 to begin holding worship.

The group is celebrating its 10-year anniversary and has been an active part of the Woodstock and Cherokee County community during that time, often seen about the community riding their motorcycles.

Pastor Dakota Schultz says residents may have seen the church members riding their motorcycles covered in lights during the Woodstock Christmas parade or covered in flags in the Fourth of July parade.

“You may have seen us during a charity ride supporting a local charity or trying to bring a little bit of Christmas to the children at the Boys and Girls Club in Canton,” he said.

The group is heavily involved in helping people recover from drug and alcohol addiction by working in and supporting a sober house where recovering addicts can begin picking up the pieces of their lives.

“We are now asking for a helping hand from our community,” Schultz said. “We are desperately seeking a new home where we can begin looking at an even brighter future.”

The pastor urged anyone who owns a building that could possibly be suitable for a congregation of 60 or more, or who know of someone who may to call.

“We are praying that you will reach out to us. We are a hard-working and Jesus loving group who is willing to step out on faith and we hope you are as well,” he said in a letter soliciting a new church site.

“What we lack financially, we make up for with enthusiasm for the Lord. Please give this some prayerful thought and if you feel the Lord is leading you to help then please don’t hesitate to reach out to us,” the pastor said.
